Blood on Gold Mountain

Blood on Gold Mountain (Season 1) is a narrative audio experience chronicling the events of the 1871 Chinatown War and Massacre.

Released as a podcast in 2021, Blood on Gold Mountain gained national recognition in the US, rising to #23 in the History category on Apple Podcasts. It was featured in media outlets including KCRW, The Mercury News, CAAM Media, NowThis, and over 20 others. In 2021-22 it has charted in Apple Podcasts’ top 100 (History Category) in 9 countries and territories, including Taiwan, Italy, Bermuda and Brazil. Episodes 1 through 3 were released in China via Baidu in late December 2022, where they amassed over 1.3 million views in the first week; a phenomenon which may be related to its sudden rise to #11 in the Philippines on 12/30/22.

Blood on Gold Mountain features an original musical score composed and produced by creator Micah Huang, and spanning the series’ full length (9 episodes, with a running time of 5 hours and 30 minutes). The text is a historical novel written by Micah Huang (abridged for audio release, print publication pending) which follows the journey of Yut Ho, a young woman who arrives in Los Angeles as a refugee, only to find herself embroiled in a battle for survival, freedom, and the soul of Chinatown.
